MANILA, Philippines — Police have reduced to around 70,000 to 80,000 the crowd estimate on the grand rally of presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo along Diosdado
Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay on City on Saturday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the rally was attended by groups of people coming from different areas displaying banners of support for Robredo and her running mate, Sen. Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan.

“It was attended by more or less 70,000 to 80,000 supporters and volunteers in 300 cars, 15 buses, 100 motorcycles and 15 public utility jeepneys,” the NCRPO said yesterday.

Robredo’s campaign rally coincided with her 57th birthday.

NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Felipe Natividad on Sunday said around 90,000 to 100,000 people attended Robredo’s rally.

The NCRPO did not explain why it lowered its estimate on the crowd that gathered in Pasay for Robredo.

Organizers of the rally said at least 412,000 people showed up at the event.

The NCRPO noted that a “great number” of people did not stay for the whole duration of the event and left after a while.

More than 1,600 police officers and personnel from government agencies as well as the Philippine Red Cross provided security and response teams.

The NCRPO said it also secured the campaign rallies held by presidential aspirants Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Sen. Manny Pacquiao.
