DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — April 30 is a special non-working day in this city for the celebration of the Bangus Festival.
By authority of President Duterte, Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation 1340 declaring the holiday to enable residents to celebrate the festival.
“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the city of Dagupan be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to the public health measures of the national government,” the proclamation read.
A street party, music and arts festival as well as grilling of milkfish by the roadside are among the highlights of the festival.
The Bangus Festival was canceled in the past two years due to the COVID pandemic.
