MANILA, Philippines — A Chinese man was arrested for fleeing after the sport utility vehicle (SUV) he was allegedly driving hit a parked motorcycle, injuring its driver, in Parañaque on Thursday night.
Five of his companions were later arrested in Las Piñas when they tried to pass through a BF Homes subdivision gate and figured in a fistfight with security guards who flagged them down.
Police have yet to release the names of the six suspects, who were seen in closed-circuit television footage of the incidents.
One footage showed the SUV reportedly driven by the Chinese man cruising along Dr. A. Santos Avenue in Parañaque at around 5:40 p.m. when it rear-ended a parked motorcycle, with its driver still on it.
The SUV was seen speeding away from the scene but upon reaching BF Homes subdivision’s Concha Cruz gate in Las Piñas, security guards – who had been alerted about the hit-and-run incident – stopped the vehicle from going through.
One guard was seen positioning a motorcycle in front of the SUV to prevent it from leaving, but the driver still tried to ram it, the footage showed.
A heated argument between the occupants of the SUV and a backup vehicle with the village security guards triggered a fistfight that was caught on CCTV footage.
The Chinese man’s companions reportedly admitted to being intoxicated but claimed the guards attacked them first. They said they would file charges against the guards.
