Boy, 9, drowns in swimming pool

BOLINAO, Pangasinan, Philippines — A family outing turned tragic when a nine-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a resort in Barangay Patar in this town on Thursday.

John Mark Paradero, a resident of Barangay Malhacan in Meycauayan, Bulacan, was declared dead on arrival at the Rillera Medical Hospital.

The victim, his elder brother and their other companions reportedly went swimming in the pool after walking along the beach before 8 a.m.

At around 8:15 a.m., one of their companions called for help when he saw Paradero lying at the bottom of the pool.
