CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines — A suspected finance officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) has been arrested in this city.
Aldeem Yañez was apprehended by government operatives led by the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group.
Guns, bullets, explosives and subversive documents were among those reportedly seized in the raid on a house in Barangay Centro Iponan.
Regional Trial Court Branch 25 Judge Arthur Abundiente issued arrest and search warrants for Yañez and another suspected rebel, Francisco Pagayaman, who eluded arrest.
Yañez was said to be the finance officer of the NPA’s Regional White Area Committee in North Central Mindanao. Pagayaman is the chairman and spokesman of Kadamay in Northern Mindanao.
