MANILA, Philippines — Two Chinese were arrested in Parañaque for allegedly trying to steal a gadget being sold for P100,000 from a delivery driver on Thursday.

Cheng Ziyang and Guo Qiang ordered two iPhone 13s and a pair of Airpods worth P215,000 from Mega Enterprise Corp., to be paid upon delivery, according to the Southern Police District.

Upon meeting up with the complainant, delivery driver John Abogadie, Cheng asked for a ride in his car to get the money at a spa.

The suspect, upon arriving at the spa, asked Abogadie if he could check one of his orders.

When Abogadie agreed, Cheng ran off with one of the iPhones toward a nearby vehicle driven by Guo.

When Abogadie used his vehicle to block their path, Cheng got out of Guo’s vehicle and ran toward Legaspi Drive. A security guard saw the incident and called police for help.

Responding police officers confiscated the iPhone 13 from Cheng and two .38-caliber bullets from his jacket.

Police also found a .38-caliber handgun loaded with five bullets in Guo’s vehicle.

The suspects face charges of estafa and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Omnibus Election Code.
