ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Flashfloods have destroyed agricultural crops worth around P2.2 million in this city due to continuous rain since Monday.
In a report to the city disaster risk reduction and management office, city agriculturist Carmencita Sanchez said 28.90 hectares of farms planted with hybrid corn, hybrid rice, certified rice and vegetables in Vitali district were affected.
The city and parts of Zamboanga peninsula have been experiencing inclement weather since Monday due to a low-pressure area spotted off Mindanao. The weather system intensified into a tropical depression.
