Cop killed, 4 injured as patrol truck hits tree in Zamboanga del Norte town

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — A police officer died while four of her companions were badly hurt in a vehicular accident in Tampilisan town in Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday.

The victims belong to the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company of the Zamboanga del Norte Provincial Police Office.

Investigators from the Tampilisan Municipal Police Station said the five police personnel were in a patrol pickup truck that rammed into a mahogany tree along a highway in Barangay Santo Niño at on Thursday afternoon. Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the collision.

The police officer was declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital where she and her four injured companions were rushed by emergency responders from the Tampilisan municipal government for treatment.
