2 slain in Rizal checkpoint shootout

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two motorcycle-riding men were killed in an alleged shootout with police manning a checkpoint at the boundary of Angono and Binangonan towns in Rizal before dawn yesterday.

Police said the two, who have yet to be identified, refused to pull over when flagged down for not wearing helmets.

The suspects reportedly sped toward Binangonan and fired at pursuing policemen.

Police said the motorcycle  used by the suspects was reported missing by its owner Julian Khyle de Leon on Tuesday.
