Over 150,000 tourists visit Boracay in March
MANILA, Philippines — A total of 150,597 tourists visited the world-famous Boracay Island last month, according to the municipal tourism office of Malay, Aklan.
The figure included 146,440 local travelers, 1,624 returning Filipinos and overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and 2,533 foreigners, data for the month of March showed.
Travelers from the United States topped Boracay’s visitors with 603 followed by the United Kingdom with 211; the United Arab Emirates, 201; Germany, 161; Canada, 137, and Australia with 121.
The Malay tourism office also recorded double-digit figures for tourist arrivals from other countries such as Singapore with 88; South Korea, 77; Israel, 59; Saudi Arabia, 55; China, 48; Japan, 44, and Malaysia, 31.
Boracay, known for its white sand and upbeat beach activities, also welcomed tourists from African countries such as Algeria, Liberia, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and Tunisia.
The island’s March tally of 150,597 was almost double the February tally of 80,882 visitors.
Fully vaccinated visitors are required to present vaccination cards or vaccination certificates generated from the VaxCertPH, booking details from hotels recognized by the Department of Tourism and health declaration form downloaded from touristboracay.com.
Unvaccinated tourists must submit a negative COVID test result taken 72 hours before their arrival on the island.
