MANILA, Philippines — Three children drowned in a river in San Antonio, Zambales on Monday.
Police identified the fatalities as Brietanya Alexa Ancho, John Andrey Guania and Prince Nythan Ocol, all five years old and residents of Purok 2, Barangay San Miguel. Their bodies were found floating in the river at around 3 p.m.
The children were reportedly playing on a beach resort in Barangay San Miguel. They were later seen leaving the premises of the resort and walking toward the river.
In Negros Occidental, Riza Macatigos, 31, drowned while trying to save her nieces aged 13 and 16 in a quarry in Purok Paho, Barangay Napoles in Bago City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday.
Macatigos’s 13-year-old daughter, who sought the help of their neighbors, told police they were playing near the river when her 16-year-old cousin pushed them into the water.
