NAIA Terminal 4 reopens
MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of domestic travelers departed from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4, which reopened yesterday.
The NAIA Terminal 3 will be decongested by about 12,000 passengers per day with the reopening of Terminal 4, according to Manila International Airport Authority general manager Ed Monreal.
Monreal said domestic travel would drive the recovery of the local tourism industry.
The NAIA Terminal 4 reopened yesterday after two years of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Monreal said three major domestic carriers – Cebgo, Air Asia and Air Swift – operate at NAIA Terminal 4 where 93 flights are scheduled daily.
About 1,767 passengers departed the NAIA Terminal 4 yesterday as Cebgo took the first flight to Legazpi City.
Monreal reminded travelers to comply with the health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and local government units.
AirAsia Philippines said the reopening of the terminal is an indication of the strong recovery momentum of the travel industry.
