MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go launched a series of relief activities in Alitagtag, Lemery, Lian, San Luis, and Taal, all in Batangas, to help residents recover from the impact of COVID.

The relief activities, implemented in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), were conducted at the Matabungkay Beach Resort in Lian, Fast Gym Barangay 5 in Taal, SLA School Calumpang West in San Luis, Alitagtag  municipal hall and Lemery Covered Court on Friday.

Go’s team provided meals and face masks to 1,332 residents in batches while observing health and safety protocols.

Representatives from the DSWD provided livelihood grants under its assistance to individuals in crisis situation program.

Go, chair of the Senate committee on health, reminded residents to keep observing health protocols to curb the spread of COVID.

He urged eligible people to get vaccinated.

Go told residents with medical concerns to avail themselves of the assistance offered by  the Malasakit Centers at the Batangas Provincial Hospital in Lemery and Batangas Medical Center in Batangas City.

The Malasakit Center is a one-stop shop that aims to reduce a patient’s hospital bill to the lowest amount possible by covering various services and expenses such as laboratory and surgery charges.

It was institutionalized under the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which Go primarily authored and sponsored.

He thanked local officials for serving their constituents amid the challenges posed by the pandemic.

As vice chair of the Senate committee on finance, Go supported several initiatives that enhance the local economy and improve the quality of life of the Batangueños.

These include the construction of multipurpose buildings in Alitagtag, Lemery, Taal and San Luis.

He supported road rehabilitation projects in several municipalities in Batangas.
