MANILA, Philippines — To bring the Quezon City government closer to the people, District 2 Councilor Mikey Belmonte said on Friday he would spearhead the construction of a multi-purpose building in Barangay Batasan Hills’ Nagsaka Block 2.

Belmonte, who is seeking reelection, said he would work toward accomplishing the project with the support of Sen. Bong Go and barangay captains Manuel Co of Commonwealth, Manuel Guarin of Payatas, John Abad of Batasan Hills and Wilfredo Cara of Bagong Silangan.

“It shall serve as a venue for the delivery of government services, for us in city hall to bring the city government closer to our constituents,” Belmonte said.

The multi-purpose building shall be a venue for government meetings and activities and an office where people’s organizations can be strengthened through capacity-building interventions, he added.

Belmonte said aside from the Nagsaka Multi-Purpose Hall, there are also plans to construct eight more multi-purpose buildings in District 2, with sites identified in Barangays Batasan Hills, Payatas, Commonwealth and Bagong Silangan.

“Aside from benefiting the general public, this initiative will also benefit our senior citizens and persons with disabilities, making it more convenient for them to transact with the city,” he said.
