P39.9 million shabu seized in Cebu

MANILA, Philippines — Police confiscated around six kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with an estimated street value of P39.9 million in stings in the cities of Cebu and Talisay yesterday.

Philippine National Police chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said Shelljay Cuyno and Dennis Centino, both 24 years old, were apprehended in Barangay Pahina Central in Cebu City shortly after midnight.

Carlos said the two suspects yielded 5.12 kilos of shabu worth P34.8 million.

Around 600 grams of shabu valued at P4.08 million were confiscated in Barangay Punta Princesa at around 12:40 a.m.

Police said the illegal drugs were recovered from Jaime Villahermosa, 53, a ”high-value” drug target.

In Talisay, 150 grams of shabu worth P1.02 million were seized from Davisrise Espinosa in Barangay Bulacao yesterday.

Meanwhile, marijuana plants and cannabis stalks worth P4.2 million were uprooted and destroyed in Kibungan, Benguet on Friday.

Anti-narcotics agents discovered the marijuana plantations in Barangay Tacadang at around 8 a.m.

The cultivators of the marijuana plants eluded arrest.
