MANILA, Philippines — Authorities seized weapons and other prohibited items during an “Oplan Greyhound” raid on the Quezon City Jail male dormitory yesterday.
The operation was conducted by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) on the facility behind the Kamuning police station at around 4:30 a.m.
QCPD director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said the raiding teams seized bladed wepons and other improvised pointed objects, playing cards and drug paraphernalia, but no illegal drugs.
He said there was no untoward incident and the inmates did not resist during the operation.
Medina said the QCPD and BJMP will intensify Greyhound operations to prevent the proliferation of contraband in Quezon City’s jails.
