Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A toddler died after a fire engulfed a residential compound in Caloocan City on Wednesday.

Patrick Ace Francisco’s body was found in the remains of one of six houses destroyed by the fire along Pampano street in Barangay 14, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

Francisco’s father tried to save him after learning from a relative there was a fire in the room where his son was staying, according to reports.

Twenty-eight fire trucks – 11 from the BFP and 17 from volunteer groups – responded to the fire, which reached first alarm at around 1:30 p.m. and was put out approximately 30 minutes later.

The fire damaged P80,000 worth of property and displaced 27 individuals, the BFP said.
