Man held for P50,000 heist

MANILA, Philippines — A man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a businessman’s vehicle and stealing over P50,00 in cash and valuables.

The complainant told the Valenzuela City police that the passenger-side window of his vehicle, parked in front of his donut shop along Parada Road in Fortune Village 5, had been smashed.

Robert Jacinto Leonardo, 58, a resident of Bagbaguin in Caloocan City, was arrested on Wednesday night after police received a tip.

Police recovered from Leonardo a blue polo shirt, P280 cash, an identification card of the victim, a flat screwdriver, a tire wrench, a flash disk and a flashlight.

Investigators also retrieved closed-circuit television footage showing the suspect heading toward Bagbaguin.

Police said Leonardo faces theft charges.
