8 hurt in Benguet 6-vehicle smashup

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Eight persons were taken to a hospital after they were injured in a six-vehicle smashup along Marcos Highway in Barangay Badiwan in Tuba, Benguet yesterday.

Initial reports showed a truck, two vans, two sport utility vehicles and a car figured in the accident.

The truck reportedly hit the first van, which rolled over, when its brake malfunctioned.

The wayward truck hit the other vehicles then rammed a car parked by the roadside.

In Bataan, 10 construction workers were injured when a dump truck they were riding rammed electric posts along the road in Barangay Atilano Ricardo in Bagac town.

The victims were on their way to a construction site at a resort when the accident occurred.
