Soldier wounded in NPA Northern Samar attack

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines — A soldier was wounded in an attack by New People’s Army (NPA) rebels in Barangay Nagoocan in Catubig, Northern Samar on Tuesday.

Government troopers were conducting a Support to Barangay Development Program when an undetermined number of NPA rebels opened fire.

Pfc. Gilbert Gabin of the 20th Infantry Battalion was hit in his right leg and airlifted to the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital in Catarman for treatment.

There was no reported casualty among the civilians.
