MANILA, Philippines — Around three kilos of cocaine with an estimated street value of P15 million were fished out of the waters off Cagayan on Monday.
Fishermen retrieved the illegal drugs in the waters between the towns of Abulug and Ballesteros at around 9 a.m., Joel Plaza, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cagayan Valley field office director, said.
“The items were found wrapped in sealed plastic bags with packing tape and black rubber,” Plaza said in a statement.
Authorities searched the area yesterday for other illegal drugs that could still be at sea or in the hands of other fishermen.
Meanwhile, John Manuel Razel, 22, was arrested during a controlled-delivery operation of a kilo of shabu in Barangay Malagasang 2B in Imus, Cavite on Monday afternoon.
Authorities intercepted the illegal drugs at the Port of Clark on March 11. The shipment originated from Johannesburg in South Africa.
