Quake rocks Zamboanga village
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — A magnitude-3.7 earthquake rocked a village in this city, disrupting the first day of the face-to-face classes in a nearby school, state seismologists said yesterday.
The origin of the quake, which occurred at around 8:20 a.m., was located 70 kilometers east of Zamboanga City, according to local state seismologists. It was felt at Intensity 3 in Zamboanga City and Isabela City in Basilan.
The temblor sent students and teachers of the Vitali National High School in Barangay Vitali rushing to the exit.
Mike Alavar, chair of the city committee on disaster, said the quake damaged the school’s building.
No one was reported killed or injured in the quake.
