MANILA, Philippines — Charges have been filed against actor Kit Thompson after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and fellow actor Ana Jalandoni at a hotel in Tagaytay City in Cavite.
The Philippine National Police announced Saturday that it has filed a complaint against Thompson for violating Section 5(a) of Republic Act No. 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act, which prohibits causing physical harm to a woman or her child.
“We will wait for the decision of the prosecutor based on his appreciation and evaluation of evidence presented. The PNP has gathered the necessary evidence and witness accounts in the course of its investigation,” PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos said.
Police arrested and detained Thompson on Friday after they were reportedly alerted following Jalandoni’s appeal for help from her friends whom she sent a picture of herself showing the injuries she sustained.
Thompson and Jalandoni confirmed that they were in a relationship in December last year. — Xave Gregorio with a report from Franco Luna
