Quezon City trike drivers
MANILA, Philippines — To get fuel subsidy The Quezon City council has approved an ordinance providing for a fuel subsidy program for over 25,000 members of various tricycle operators and drivers associations (TODA) in the city.
Qualified drivers and operators shall receive a fuel subsidy of P1,000 in the form of a fuel voucher, which will be distributed by the Quezon City Task Force for Transport and Traffic Management through the Tricycle Regulatory Division.
The city government is currently finalizing the implementing rules and regulations for the program and the guidelines on the distribution process of the fuel vouchers.
On Tuesday, Mayor Joy Belmonte marked her birthday by distributing fuel vouchers worth P500 to almost 4,000 TODA members to help ease the burden caused by the recent spate of oil price hikes.
“While we are waiting for the fuel subsidy promised by the national government, we recognize the urgent need to help one of the most vital transportation sectors in our city,” said Belmonte.
The distribution of fuel vouchers will continue in the following days, the local government said.
Free bus rides
The mayor also urged residents, especially motorists, to take advantage of the free rides offered by the local government under the Q City Bus System.
Launched during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, the bus augmentation program currently has eight routes traversing major thoroughfares in the city.
Belmonte said the program adopts an efficient mode of transportation to ease traffic congestion and lessen the transportation expenses of commuters.
