MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Service Commission (CSC) registered a record-high turnout during the nationwide career service examinations on Sunday.

Based on the CSC’s record, the examinee turnout reached 70,799 or 91.66 percent of the total number of registered examinees at 77,241.

The commission said this was the biggest conduct of the civil service exams and consequently, the largest turnout in a single day since the COVID-19 pandemic started in 2020.

The pen and paper exams were conducted at 77 testing centers nationwide.

In the National Capital Region alone, CSC Commissioner Aileen Lizada said a total of 4,230 examinees took the Career Service Examination professional level while 1,690 took the sub-professional level.

Newly appointed CSC Chairman Karlo Nograles lauded the successful conduct of the examinations.

“No significant issues were reported among the examiners and examinees. We thank everyone for complying with the health and safety protocols that we put in place,” Nograles said.

“Our gratitude goes most especially to our partners in the local government units, the teachers who served as room examiners and proctors and all those who assisted the CSC in the administration of the exams,” he added.

Nograles said the high examinee turnout is a positive development as the government is gearing toward accommodating more people who want to join the public sector.
