Go aids low-income households in Candaba

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to balance the need to speed up the country’s economic recovery and protect people’s health.

In a video message delivered during a relief activity for residents in Candaba, Pampanga on Friday, Go gave assurance that he remains committed to providing the poor with accessto quality health care services.

As chair of the Senate committee on health and demography, Go reminded the public to prioritize their health, especially during this time of global health crisis.

He encouraged those in need of medical care to seek the services of any of the two Malasakit Centers located in the province to reduce their hospital expenses.

Go is the principal author of the Malasakit Centers Act of 2019, which mandates all state-run hospitals to provide poor and indigent patients convenient access to medical assistance programs offered by concerned government agencies.

In Pampanga, the Malasakit Centers are located at the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital in San Fernando and at the Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center in Angeles City.

Go encouraged residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as receive their boosters as soon as possible.

He urged local officials to strengthen the vaccine rollout in their communities and ensure that each member in the priority list receives complete vaccine and booster shots.

Go’s team distributed face masks and meals to 1,000 residents who trooped to the municipal action center.

The team also gave bicycles, computer tablets and new pairs of shoes to select recipients.

Representatives from the Department of Social Welfare and Development gave financial assistance to each affected household as part of the government’s efforts to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.

Go lauded the local leaders of Candaba for leading their communities to recovery from the challenges caused by the COVID pandemic.

Earlier, Go’s team conducted a similar relief effort for indigent families in the nearby town of Guagua.
