MANILA, Philippines — Jobs will be available for Filipino workers in Canada, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced last week.
Bello is scheduled to go to Canada today to sign bilateral labor agreements with the provinces of Ontario and Yukon, which aim to provide employment opportunities for Filipinos.
“This will create a lot of work destinations for our workers. Canada has good employment terms,” he said.
Bello said he was supposed to sign a memorandum of understanding with the province of Prince Edward, but some aspects of the accord were not ironed out.
Foreign workers in Canada can avail themselves of resident visas, he added.
“They offer to hire workers from our country because Filipinos are skilled and reliable,” Bello said.
