MANILA, Philippines — A Cebu Pacific Naga-Manila flight skidded off a runway upon arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) yesterday, affecting several flights.

The “runway excursion” took place upon arrival of the flight at 11:45 am. The aircraft was towed from the runway shortly after 1 p.m., according to Cebu Pacific.

Cebu Pacific said all 42 passengers and four crew of the aircraft safely deplaned with no reported injuries.

“All the affected passengers have been assisted accordingly and have left the airport,” the budget carrier said in a statement.

Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) said the runway obstruction at NAIA caused by the disabled aircraft resulted in delays in flight departures and arrivals of some of its flights.

PAL said some departing flights were able to proceed because an alternate runway is open.

However, it said this was not possible for larger aircraft, which were only allowed on the runway that was blocked.
