MANILA, Philippines — Police shot dead one of six suspects who allegedly stole a motorcycle in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City on Saturday night.
In a report, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Remus Medina said they have yet to identify the slain suspect, who bore a tattoo on his back that read “Aries.”
Medina said the suspect, who was on a stolen motorcycle, was cornered by lawmen along Mahogany street at least one hour after the victim, Aldrin Amorcillo, 28, reported the robbery to a police station.
According to Amorcillo, he was about to leave a store when six men on three motorcycles forcibly took his motorcycle and cell phone.
Instead of surrendering, the suspect fired at the policemen who retaliated, killing him on the spot.
QCPD Station 13 commander Lt. Col. Roldante Sarmiento said the other suspects escaped.
Sarmiento said they recovered at the scene a loaded .38-caliber handgun without a serial number and a coin purse containing two sachets of shabu.
The victim’s motorcycle was also recovered by police.
Medina lauded the QCPD operatives who immediately responded to the robbery.
