SUBIC BAY FREEPORT, Philippines — President Duterte has named former Olongapo City mayor Rolen Paulino as the new chairman of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA).
Paulino was sworn into office by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea at Malacañang yesterday.
Duterte signed Paulino’s appointment paper on Monday.
Paulino replaced Wilma Eisma, who resigned from her post effective yesterday.
Eisma said she had tendered her resignation last October to focus on her health and family, but the President did not act on it.
“This time, thankfully, he favored my renewed request,” she said. ”I now leave the Subic Bay Freeport with a happy heart.”
“It will always be my honor not only to be the first woman appointed to this job, but also to be one leader who proved that together, the stakeholders of Subic Bay will always be stronger, and will always overcome. Maraming salamat po sa inyong lahat,” Eisma said in a statement.
