MANILA, Philippines — President Duterte has appointed Vice Admiral Artemio Abu as the 29th commandant of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
Abu will take the helm of the PCG from Vice Admiral Eduardo Fabricante, who was designated officer-in-charge following the retirement of Leopoldo Laroya on Feb. 10.
Duterte signed Abu’s appointment paper yesterday, Malacañang said.
“We are confident that he will steer the PCG to greater heights in the performance of its mandate toward maritime law enforcement,” acting presidential spokesman Karlo Nograles said.
