Bird flu outbreaks in Central Luzon contained – DA
MANILA, Philippines — The reported bird flu outbreaks at quail and duck farms in Bulacan and Pampanga have been contained, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said yesterday.
Personnel of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and municipal veterinary office as well as farm owners acted swiftly to contain the virus upon detection at a duck farm in Baliuag, Bulacan, and quail farms in Candaba and Mexico, both in Pampanga, according toAgriculture Secretary William Dar.
The disease was first detected on Jan. 6 at a duck farm in Barangay Barangka, Baliuag through routine surveillance activities implemented by DA-BAI as part of its early warning system, DA-BAI director Reildrin Morales said.
