MANILA, Philippines — Three Nigerians allegedly engaged in “love scam” and other fraudulent activities have been arrested in Bacoor, Cavite.
Shaka Hashimu Dirisu, 41; Gabriel Daniel Evans, 31, and Anih Chinedu Miracle, 27, were collared by agents of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) and military personnel in Pasong Buaya III on Feb. 16.
The suspects reportedly victimized Filipinas they met online and defrauded them of large amounts of money, according to BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan.
“They were using several aliases to earn the victims’ trust. Documents show they are overstaying,” Manahan added.
The BI is investigating the suspects’ possible connections to criminal groups based in South Africa as well as tracking down their possible cohorts in the Philippines.
