Mom, daughter dead in Quezon City fire
MANILA, Philippines — A mother and her daughter died while another was injured when a fire broke out at their house in Quezon City yesterday morning.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatalities as Helen Uy, 67, and her 40-year-old daughter Johanna.
Firefighters recovered the victims’ bodies in separate rooms of their three-story house along 11th street in Barangay Mariana.
A relative of the fatalities, Valerie Uy, 34, suffered a laceration in her right hand.
The BFP said the fire broke out at around 5:05 a.m. and reached first alarm.
Firefighters put out the flames at around 6:20 a.m.
Arson investigators said the fire originated in the laundry area on the ground floor.
Probers said they have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed P2.25 million worth of property.
