‘Poblacion Girl’ a no-show at fiscal’s hearing
MANILA, Philippines — Gwyneth Chua, better known as “Poblacion Girl,” did not attend the preliminary investigation hearing yesterday of the charges against her for allegedly breaching quarantine at the Berjaya Makati Hotel in December.
A source said Chua was not present during the proceedings at the Makati prosecutor’s office on Monday. She and her parents were represented by their lawyer.
Also present were the lawyers of the hotel and Chua’s boyfriend, Rico Atienza.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, which filed the case against Chua and the other respondents, were represented by two police officers.
Senior Assistant City Prosecutor Maria Corazon Molina presided over the preliminary investigation, which lasted nearly an hour.
The prosecutor set the next hearing on Feb. 14.
Chua and eight others were charged with violating Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
