4 cops sacked over P30 million Pasig heist
MANILA, Philippines — Four police officers who allegedly robbed a Japanese man of at least P30 million in Pasig City last December were dismissed from the service.
Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao Jr., National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director, said in a text message yesterday that he has signed the dismissal order against S/Sgt. Jayson Bartolome, Pat. Kirk Joshua Almojera and Cpls. Merick Desoloc and Christian Jerome Reyes.
The police officers were found guilty of grave misconduct after they and a civilian accomplice broke into the house of a Japanese businessman in Barangay Kapitolyo on Dec. 18, 2021.
As they held the victim and his partner at gunpoint, the policemen opened the businessman’s vault and took around P30 million in cash and valuables.
Danao earlier vowed there would be no mercy for the police officers for tainting the police force.
The suspects, who were assigned at the Taguig police station, were arrested by their counterparts in Pasig.
