Woman slain in front of sister’s house

MANILA, Philippines — A woman was shot dead in Barangay Payatas in Quezon City on Monday night.

Erma Martinez, 52, was standing in front of her sister’s house along Acapulco street when she was attacked at around 11:40 p.m., according to a report from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Witnesses told probers they heard three successive gunshots at the scene.

When Martinez’s sister went outside, she saw the victim sprawled on the ground with gunshot wounds in the body.

She saw two men, one armed with a handgun of unknown caliber, running away from the area.

Probers recovered three bullet casings and a spent bullet at the scene of the shooting.

Police are checking if Martinez’s reported involvement in illegal drugs is related to her murder.
