Diether Ocampo hurt in Makati car crash

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Diether Ocampo was injured after his vehicle crashed into a dump truck parked along Osmena Highway in Makati City before dawn yesterday.

Ocampo, 48, was driving his sport utility vehicle along the highway’s southbound lane when he rear-ended a dump truck collecting trash at the corner of Van Buren street in Barangay Pio del Pilar at around 1:40 a.m., probers said.

Lt. Col. Randy Moratalla, Makati deputy police chief, said Ocampo came from a shooting.

Moratalla, in a phone interview, said they are investigating if the actor fell asleep while driving.

A rescue team from the Philippine Red Cross brought Ocampo to the Makati Medical Center for treatment.

The truck driver and garbage collectors were not hurt in the accident.
