70 families homeless in Pasig fire

MANILA, Philippines — Around 70 families were left homeless when a fire razed a slum area in Pasig City on Wednesday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze broke out at around 11:26 a.m. and reached second alarm.

Arson probers said the fire originated on the ground floor of a two-story shanty owned by Charlie Brown.

The BFP said 20 houses were destroyed in the fire, which was put out at around 1:47 p.m.

There were no casualties. Damage to property was placed at P200,000.

A total of 81 fire trucks and three ambulances responded to the scene.

The displaced families sought shelter at an evacuation center.
