3 in scripted road rage shooting charged
MANILA, Philippines — Police have filed criminal charges against three persons who reportedly staged a road rage shooting in Marikina River Park last week.
Jonathan Esquillo, Joseph Josef and Jonathan Tablante were allegedly responsible for the road rage scene, which was uploaded on Facebook on Jan. 25.
Marikina police chief Col. Benliner Capili said charges of violation of Republic Act 10175 or the Anti-Cybercrime Law, alarm and scandal as well as unjust vexation were filed against the suspects before the city prosecutor’s office.
Capili said they accepted the suspects’ public apology.
“However, on the issue of criminal liability, the police pursued the filing of criminal charges against them,” he said.
The bloggers deleted the viral video after it received mostly negative reactions from the public.
In a video message on Facebook, the suspects admitted their mistake and made a public apology.
