MANILA, Philippines — Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a suspected gunrunner in Quezon City on Sunday.
Clint Nifloyd Quijano, 25, was taken into police custody. His two unidentified cohorts escaped during an entrapment operation in Barangay Old Balara.
Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, CIDG National Capital Region field office chief, said Quijano and his companions negotiated a deal with a police officer who posed as a buyer of a .45-caliber submachine gun.
Police said they were about to arrest the suspects after they accepted the marked money but Quijano resisted, injuring one of the lawmen.
The CIDG said Quijano was an alleged member of a crime ring involved in gunrunning and drug trafficking.
