Quezon City extends validity of business permits

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has extended the validity of business permits and other ancillary clearances to complement its earlier decision to move the deadline for the payment of first and second quarter dues to July 20.

Mayor Joy Belmonte approved the proposed ordinance extending the validity of business documents such as sanitary, liquor and market permits as well as environmental clearances, tourism accreditation certificates, security and traffic clearances.

Based on the ordinance, permits and clearances that will expire before July 20 will be valid until the said date. Those expiring after July 20 are valid until Oct. 20.

City council Majority Leader Franz Pumaren said they decided to extend the validity of the permits so as not to render the objective of the city’s tax relief measures irrelevant.

The city government has approved three tax measures for business owners, including the extension of the deadline for the payment of taxes for the first and second quarters from Jan. 20 and March 20, respectively, to July 20.

Belmonte said the tax measures are meant to support business owners affected by the pandemic.
