People behind staged road rage shooting identified

MANILA, Philippines — Police have identified the people who staged a road rage shooting at the Marikina River Park Tuesday that went viral on social media.

Marikina police chief Col. Benliner Capili said they have the names of the persons who took part in the video but he declined to disclose their identities as police are still preparing criminal charges against them.

Capili said they would file a complaint against the suspects for violation of Article 154 of the Revised Penal Code or unlawful use of means of publication and unlawful utterances.

Three men and a woman were seen in the video, which was uploaded by blogger Sir Nathan on Facebook.

The blogger later deleted the video after it received mostly negative reactions from netizens.

Capili said they are studying whether to include the woman, who was a passenger of the Toyota Innova, in the complaint.

He earlier condemned the people involved in the video as it put the city’s police force in a bad light.
