2 nabbed for gunrunning
MANILA, Philippines — Two suspected gunrunners were arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Quezon City and Manila on Friday.
Jomar Lingotan, 20, was apprehended in a sting in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City at around 2 p.m.
Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, who heads the CIDG’s National Capital Region (NCR) field office, said Lingotan negotiated a deal with a police officer who posed as a buyer for a .28-caliber handgun.
Silvio said Lingotan is a member of a criminal gang involved in gunrunning, gun-for-hire and drug pushing activities in Quezon City.
In Manila, Armando Gaudario, 57, was arrested for selling a loose firearm to an undercover police officer along Aurora Boulevard in Sta. Cruz at around 4:30 p.m.
Police also confiscated a .38-caliber handgun from Gaudario.
The suspects are facing charges of violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and the nationwide election-related gun ban.
