MANILA, Philippines — The corporate social responsibility arm of online sabong operator Lucky 8 Star Quest Inc. has donated P20 million worth of COVID-19 homecare kits to local government units in Metro Manila.
The donation was part of Pitmaster Foundation’s initiative to help persons with mild COVID-19 symptoms and undergoing home quarantine.
Lawyer Caroline Cruz, executive director of Pitmaster Foundation, said the donation was made on orders of their chairman, Charlie “Atong” Ang, in support of the national government’s COVID-19 response.
“This is part of our initiative to prevent lockdowns, help our health workers and protect small businesses,” Cruz said.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority also received 40,000 home care kits from the foundation that followed a P50 million cash assistance and P50 million worth of rapid antigen test kits donation last week.
Cruz said the donation of homecare kits was in response to the requests of Metro Manila mayors.
Each homecare kit contains lagundi herbal medicine, Vitamin C plus Zinc, syrup packet that provides relief for itchy throat, a digital thermometer, face masks, paracetamol, oral antiseptic, alcohol and a pamphlet on how to avoid contracting the virus. – Michael Punongbayan
