‘Poblacion Girl’ preliminary investigation set

Emmanuel Tupas - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Makati City prosecutor’s office has set next month the preliminary investigation of the charges filed against Gwyneth Ann Chua, infamously known as “Poblacion Girl,” for the breach of quarantine protocols at the Berjaya Makati hotel last month.

Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, who heads the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region field office, said the prosecutor handling the case has scheduled the preliminary investigation on Feb. 7 and Feb. 14 at around 9 a.m.

Chua and eight others were charged for violating Republic Act 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

The other respondents are Chua’s parents, Allan Chua and Gemma Leonardo-Chua; her boyfriend Rico Atienza and five employees of
Berjaya Hotel.

Chua has kept quiet about the incident wherein she left the hotel even if she was supposed to be on quarantine.

She had dinner and attended a party in a restaurant and restobar in Barangay Poblacion. She later tested positive for COVID-19.
