COVID-19 patient jumps to death from hospital building

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — A man confined in a hospital due to COVID-19 reportedly jumped to his death from the fifth floor of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in this city on Monday.

The body of Charlie Galvez, 68, a resident of Barangay Estefania, was found hanging on the edge of the roof of the hospital’s water treatment building facility.

Hospital security guard Emmanuel Tobola told police that he heard a loud crash and saw the body of the patient when he checked.

Police station chief Capt. Paul Vincent Pendon said probers have yet to determine if there was foul play.

The patient was reportedly suffering from depression.
