MANILA, Philippines — Five suspected gunrunners were arrested in Paranaque City on Thursday.
Joel Malangin, 32; Charis Calingacion, 30; Pricioso Malangin, 39; Ricardo Casiquin, 29, and Rommel Dichoso, 32, were collared by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in a sting in Barangay San Antonio at around 4:30 p.m.
Col. Randy Glenn Silvio, CIDG National Capital Region field office chief, said the suspects are members of the Capones criminal gang operating in southern Metro Manila.
They were placed in handcuffs after they accepted P3,000 in marked money from a policeman posing as a buyer for a .38-caliber revolver.
Apart from the loose firearm, police also recovered five sachets of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu and two bullets from the suspects.
The suspects are being held on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, possession of dangerous drugs and violation of the gun ban.
