Girl, 16, dies in Pasig fire
MANILA, Philippines — A 16-year-old girl died in a fire that broke out in Barangay Oranbo, Pasig City before dawn yesterday.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported that Gelyn Carol Advincula was trapped when flames destroyed her family’s two-story house along Hillcrest Drive.
Arson probers said the fire originated at the main entrance of the Advincula family’s house.
A two-month-old girl was also injured in the fire, which engulfed four houses, displacing five families or 15 individuals.
Twenty-three fire trucks and an ambulance responded to the fire.
Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed P3.6 million worth of property.
Alabang mall burns
Meanwhile, a fire gutted a mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City yesterday.
The fire started just before 3 a.m. and reached third alarm at around 4:49 a.m., the BFP said.
The fire reached fifth alarm at around 7:13 a.m. and raised to Task Force Alpha half an hour later.
The Muntinlupa City government, in an initial report, said the fire destroyed around P100 million worth of property.
Five people were reportedly injured in the fire, which was said to have started on the lower ground floor, according to the BFP.
The fire has yet to be put out as of press time, the BFP said.
