More DFA offices closed due to rising COVID-19 cases
MANILA, Philippines — More consular offices of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) have temporarily stopped operations due to the rising number of new COVID-19 cases.
The DFA’s consular office located in SM Megamall in Mandaluyong suspended its operations on Friday as part of the agency’s measures against the spread of COVID-19.
Those affected may proceed to the consular office from Jan. 10 to 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., for their rescheduled appointments.
Meanwhile, the DFA’s consular office in Tuguegarao halted its operations on Friday until further notice. Affected applicants have been contacted by the agency regarding their new schedule.
“The Department requests the public’s continued understanding as it adheres to the prescribed measures against the COVID-19 pandemic for the safety of personnel and applicants,” it said.
Earlier, the DFA also announced the suspension of operations of its offices in Lipa, Batangas from Jan. 4 until further notice, Robinson’s Magnolia in Quezon City on Jan. 5 and SM Manila from Jan. 6 to 7.
The agency also announced that its consular offices and temporary off-site passport services located in malls in areas under at least Alert Level 3 will not be able to accommodate unvaccinated individuals.
